RESUMO

An adaptive image-processing method for CT images of asphalt mixture is proposed in this paper. Different methods are compared according to the error analysis calculated between the real gradation and 3D reconstruction gradation. As revealed by the test results, the adaptive image-processing method was effective in carrying out different brightness homogenization processes for each image. The Wiener filter with 7 × 7 size filter was able to produce a better noise reduction effect without compromising image sharpness. Among the three methods, the adaptive image-processing method performed best in the accuracy of coarse aggregate recognition, followed by the ring division method and the global threshold segmentation method. The error of the gradation extracted by the adaptive image-processing method was found to be lowest compared with the real gradation. For a variety of engineering applications, the developed method helps to improve the analysis of CT images of asphalt mixtures.

With the development of nanomedicine, more and more nanoparticles are used in the diagnosis and treatment of leukemia. This study aimed to identify author, country, institutional, and journal collaborations and their impacts, assess the knowledge base, identify existing trends, and uncover emerging topics related to leukemia research. 1825 Articles and reviews were obtained from the WoSCC and analyzed by Citespace and Vosviewer. INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF NANOMEDICINE is the journal with the highest output. The contribution of FRONTIERS IN BIOENGINEERING AND BIOTECHNOLOGY is also noteworthy. The three main aspects of research in Nanoparticles-leukemia-related fields included nanoparticles for the diagnosis and treatment of leukemia, related to the type and treatment of leukemia, the specific molecular mechanism, and existing problems of the application of nanoparticles in leukemia. In the future, synthesize nano-drugs that have targeted therapy and chemotherapy resistance according to the mechanism, which may be the dawn of the solution to leukemia. This study offers a comprehensive overview of the Nanoparticles-leukemia-related field using bibliometrics and visual methods for the first time, providing a valuable reference for researchers interested in Nanoparticles-leukemia.

OBJECTIVE: To determine the prognostic significance of inflammatory response-associated genes in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). METHODS: Transcriptomic profiles and related clinical information of AML patients were acquired from a public database. To establish a multi-gene prognosis signature, we performed least absolute shrinkage and selection operator Cox analysis for the TCGA cohort and evaluated the ICGC cohort for verification. Subsequently, Kaplan-Meier analysis was carried out to compare the overall survival (OS) rates between high- and low-risk groups. Biological function and single-sample gene set enrichment (ssGSEA) analyses were employed to investigate the association of risk score with immune status and the tumor microenvironment. Prognostic gene expression levels in AML samples and normal controls were confirmed by qRT-PCR and immunofluorescence. RESULTS: We identified a potential inflammatory response-related signature comprising 11 differentially expressed genes, including ACVR2A, CCL22, EBI3, EDN1, FFAR2, HRH1, ICOSLG, IL-10, INHBA, ITGB3, and LAMP3, and found that AML patients with high expression levels in the high-risk group had poor OS rates. Biological function analyses revealed that prognostic genes mainly participated in inflammation and immunity signaling pathways. Analyses of cancer-infiltrating immunocytes indicated that in high-risk patients, the immune suppressive microenvironment was significantly affected. The expression of the inflammation reaction-associated signature was found to be associated with susceptibility to chemotherapy. There was a significant difference in prognostic gene expression between AML and control tissues. CONCLUSION: A novel inflammatory response-related signature was developed with 11 candidate genes to predict prognosis and immune status in AML patients.

An EsxA-encoding gene (esxA) was previously identified in the genome of the plant growth-promoting rhizobacterium Paenibacillus terrae strain NK3-4. The esxA was cloned and expressed in Pichia pastoris, after which the effects of the EsxA protein on rice seedling growth were analyzed to determine whether EsxA contributes to the plant growth-promoting activity of strain NK3-4. The esxA was successfully cloned from the NK3-4 genome and ligated to the eukaryotic expression vector pPICZαA. The resulting pPICZαA-esxA recombinant plasmid was transinfected into yeast cells, and esxA expression in the yeast cells was confirmed. The treatment of seed- buds with the EsxA protein increased the root length by 1.35-times, but decreased the bud length. Additionally, in rice seedlings treated with EsxA, the root and shoot lengths increased by 2.6- and 1.7-times, respectively. These findings imply that EsxA is important for the promotion of rice plant growth by P. terrae strain NK3-4. Furthermore, the construction of the esxA expression vector and the engineered strain may be useful for future investigations of the mechanism underlying the plant growth-promoting effects of EsxA, with implications for the application of EsxA for regulating plant growth.

smartPearls technology is one appropriate method to produce anti-psoriatic curcumin (Cur) topical delivery system. To prevent the sedimentation of loaded silica and release changing over the storage, which are disadvantages of smartPearls production, extra glycyrrhizic acid (GA) was added in classical smartPearls ingredients (active and porous material) to get an improved smartPearls production (Cur-GA-silica). The capacity of Cur-GA-silica to remain the gelation state after mixing with water was superior compared to that of the solid cluster without GA and that of the physical mixture of Cur, GA and silica. The Cur-GA-silica practically contained Cur with 1.68% ± 0.12% and showed significant difference with Cur raw drug powder in kinetic solubilities (4.55 ± 0.78 µg/mL vs 0 in 5 min; 3.26 ± 0.17 µg/mL vs 0 in 4 h) which was traceable to the amorphous state of Cur-GA-silica detected by X-ray diffractometer. With the amorphous Cur, two times as much penetrated Cur in Cur-GA-silica as in Cur raw drug powder was achieved on the imiquimod-induced psoriasis-like mice model. The anti-psoriatic efficacy of Cur-GA-silica was confirmed by Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) evaluation, histological evaluation and decreased IL-17A in the imiquimod-induced psoriasiform mouse skin analyzed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. In conclusion, with the addition of GA, a stable amorphous curcumin topical vehicle fabricated by smartPearls technology without extra dermal matrix is available and facilitates penetration efficacy and anti-psoriatic capacity in imiquimod-induced psoriasiform mice.

The miR156/miR529-SPL module acts a vital role in regulating plant growth and development. Though miR535 shows very high sequence identity to miR156 and miR529, it is still unknown whether miR535 could control plant growth and development. In this study, we performed the evolutionary analyses of miR535s in land plants and found that miR535s were less conserved than miR156s during evolution. In rice, miR535 expressed at a very low level during the vegetative growth but highly accumulated in young panicles, which is similar with OsmiR529, but opposite to OsmiR156. Expectedly, OsmiR535 overexpression in rice reduced plant height by decreasing the 1st and 2nd internode length. Furthermore, OsmiR535 overexpression imposed great influence in panicle architecture, such as more but shorter panicles, and fewer primary/secondary panicle branches. Moreover, OsmiR535 overexpression increased the grain length, but did not affect grain width. Through quantitative real-time PCR analyses, we further revealed that OsmiR535 overexpression repressed the expression of OsSPL7/12/16, as well as the OsSPLs downstream panicle related genes, including OsPIN1B, OsDEP1, OsLOG and OsSLR1. Taken together, our findings suggest that OsmiR535 multiply modulates plant height, panicle architecture and grain shape possibly by regulating OsSPLs genes in rice.
